Life Cycle Workshop 2019

On June 26, 2019, more than 50 participants from diverse industries gathered at the Stadthalle Reutlingen to exchange ideas on topics related to the life cycle perspective.

In line with the motto of the Life Cycle Workshop, "Transparency requires a life cycle perspective", the interactive program covered the following topics:

  • Life cycle perspective according to ISO 14001 to improve environmental performance.
  • Sustainability in the field of electromobility and aviation
  • Life cycle assessments to evaluate and reduce environmental impacts
  • Circular Economy and Circular Business Models

What workshop participants say

"The workshop was very helpful to exchange ideas with other companies and participants: What are others doing in the area of sustainability? Where do we stand? From which experiences can we learn together? The diverse use of the LCA software and the linking with data management systems, especially the outlook on how this could be made even more efficient in the future, was particularly interesting for me at the workshop.

At present, a life cycle assessment is still largely characterized by the effort required for data collection and compilation. In order to be able to evaluate a wider range of products and services in terms of sustainability in the future, we need automation solutions that take into account the requirements of all stakeholders and set the right signals as early as the innovation process."

Elena Wege, Corporate Research & Advance Engineering, Robert Bosch GmbH

"iPoint-systems has created an important forum with the Life Cycle Workshop that combines concrete case studies with exciting impulses. With my presentation on the benefits of reusable packaging in automotive logistics, I had the grateful opportunity to help shape the program and get direct feedback on my work. Overall, the selection of topics provided a successful link between practice, science and future development of LCA and sustainability.

What I found particularly positive was the friendly atmosphere, which invited people to engage in conversation outside of the lectures. Above all, the exchange showed me that users of LCA face different challenges. For me, creative approaches are therefore needed on the way to comprehensible results."
