Sabento is a software tool that allows to quickly and comfortably model biotechnical production processes using assistants. Sabento can support you in early stages of process development.

When developing bio processes, decisions taken sometimes have long-lasting consequences. Sabento will help you to analyse such possible consequences at an early stage - giving you an improved basis for decision making. Risks can be minimized and chances of the process in regard to alternatives can be analysed.

Sabento has been designed in such a way, that a user can start working with the software right away and without a lengthy preparation. To model a process will take approximately 30 to 60 minutes, an economic and ecological assessment can be completed in just 10 to 20 minutes. The social assessment may take 30 to 60 minutes when being done for the first time because of the qualitative character.

The software is prepared for the assessment of production with microorganisms, cell cultures and enzymes. The basic model contains all process units of a biotechnological process from preparation of media components to down stream processing and formulation of the final product. Of course, it is possible to leave out any process unit if it is not needed.

The main challenges in biotechnology are a high competitive pressure and short development cycles for product and process development.

Using Sabento you can assess chances and risks in early phases of the process design: effectively, simple and fast!

Chances and risks can emerge from economic, environmental and social aspects of newly developed processes. Sabento is the adequate software support, if you have little information about the process, and

• wish to adequately assess all three dimensions of sustainability in each phase of process ­design,
• have limited time for software use, and wish to concentrate on the key issues,
• want to model existing processes, analyse and assess them, in order to optimise them or prove their sustainability.
