ecoinvent LCI Database

ifu Hamburg GmbH is a distributor for licenses of the ecoinvent LCI database.

This database, developed and maintained by the Swiss Centre for Life Cycle Inventories (ecoinvent Centre) can be accessed online at www.ecoinvent.ch. A first version was launched in 2003, the second version (ecoinvent v2.0) was released in November 2007. It contains 4000 transparent, harmonised and well-documented generic LCI datasets for many sectors, such as:

• Waste
• Building Processes
• Chemicals
• Tensides
• Biomass/Biofuels
• Pulp/Paper
• Agriculture
• ICT
• Electronics

Our software Umberto supports import and export of datasets from the ecoinvent database. The full database is available offline on CD, with all datasets ready-to-use as Umberto Library.

All processes are fully documented and are provided in the EcoSpold data exchange format as XML files. They can be viewed using Microsoft Excel, and can be used in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies in research, industry and consulting. The EcoSpold data exchange format is described in detail on the ecoinvent webpage .
